First of all, I need to understand the basics. So, I decided to start with the IBM course "Generative Al for Everyone," available on edX. The course consists of 5 sub-courses, and the maximum total time to complete the entire program is 50 hours. I hope to finish it faster.
The course is quite old, released before 2023, but it has all the essential foundational knowledge, tailored for beginners like me:
The course uses simple, easy-to-understand language to explain the critical concepts of generative Al without relying on technical jargon. The hands-on labs are based on commonly used tools that don't require any programming experience. There is no educational degree required either.
I also googled the book "Speech and Language Processing" by Jurafsky and Martin. It turns out it's available for free from the very first link. The book is written in quite simple language and grabs your attention right from the first pages, so I'll keep it for reading in my free time.
Also, besides this page, I started a blog on Telegram where I duplicate the same information in russian. The blog idea was suggested by ChatGPT. I really like it! It's much easier to track my progress and share my experiences.
UPD:
I watched the first Welcome lesson of the course. It's really inspiring! I feel like dive into the learning. These are the tools we'll be studying:
GPT
DALL-E
Stable Diffusion
IBM Granite
Synthesia
IBM Watsonx
Prompt Lab
Spellbook
Dust
Hugging Face
However, there's one downside - a lot of unfamiliar vocabulary. Here are some examples of words I don't know:
estimated to reach
acquainted with generative Al
leverage its potential
is not required
can benefit
comprehensive understanding
enhance your career
implement improvements
spread across
self-paced courses
approaches
diffusion models
ethical considerations
copyright infringement
data bias
lack of explainability
transparency
interpretability
identify common misuses
Looks like it's time to improve my Business English. I'll write down all the words in a Google Doc and study them in the mornings. I'm sure l'll need them in my future job!
