I wanted to take a look into one of today's hottest topics- AI! AI is a topic resurfacing in the technology industry because of the revolutionary impacts it will bring to society. I decided to study AI and see how it will impact a sector of technology- digital design. AI is a relatively new concept and I want to study how AI can affect digital design.
The emergence of AI helped automate simple tasks. ChatGPT-a popular online AI- can help automate the following: Establishing a consistent naming convention for design tokens following best practices, simulating the design thinking process, changing variables to quickly draft ideas, and consistently writing design documentation. As a result, AIs would greatly help accelerate the production of design systems.
This article helped me realize that we have come a long way with technology. Design systems existed since the times of the Industrial Revolution when everything was mechanized. The emergence of technology made designers adapt to the shift in resolutions to accommodate different types of screens (phones, desktops, tablets, etc...)
