10 must-read guides for Open Payments and Web Monetization Enthusiasts

Open Payments allows for seamless, secure, effortless payments over the web. The payments could be inter-wallet, cross-currency, and skips a few or all intermediaries in between the sender and the receiver.

Web Monetization is a new way to fund the open web. It allows people to make small, regular payments to the websites they visit, without the need for a third-party service. The payments are sent directly from the user's browser to the website's owner and can be used to fund anything from content to access to exclusive features.

Open payments are already making it to the mainstream and it is something that is exciting for Web engineers. I'm a grantee and will be participating in ILP Summit 2022 in a few days. I have compiled a list of guides and websites that helped me understand the next big thing in the world of open payments over the past few months.

2. Interledger

Interledger, is a payment messaging protocol that supports payments of any size, including micropayments. It allows payments to be aggregated and settled over existing payment networks, such as financial institutions and Visa/Mastercard. Web Monetization providers and receivers use Interledger to exchange payments.
