I'm James Green. I retired about 6 years ago. I was a programmer analyst for 38 years, all kinds of coding, all types of systems and hardware. I began developing for the web when the web started. I've done both front end and back end work. Most of the server side was in asp.net and c#.
After I retired I took up my first love of art. I've been painting and exhibiting my work in local shows and galleries during this time. I joined a local art group and when the pandemic hit, I used my technical background to help take as much of our activities as possible online. As an art group we don't have a lot of money so I've been using as much free stuff as possible. I've developed several applications using Google Sheets as a database and Google Apps Scripts to automate our call for entries, new member applications, jurying new members, and a members services dashboard for our board members.
I'm in the process of trying get a handle on GitHub actions, environments and workflows to implement some CI/CD with better testing environments. I also have a free Cloudflare account with a few domains and experimenting to see if I can incorporate that into my workflow.

I'm in my 2nd year, studying computer science student at Miva Open University (Online University because I'll be smothered with anxiety in a physical University), and so far...I dunno, most of the computing courses don't seem challenging.
It's just the math and physics that are fighting for who'd rip my brain to shreds first.
Anyway, I still haven't figured out (concretely) what I want to specialize in, but System Programming seems sporty. Would've done AI and something ML-related, but I dunno, that industry seems more saturated than ever and I want to go for something timeless. Not just a trend that would even out and leave many people stranded in the near future.
Any recommendations on that regard?
