My 2025 Tech Learning Plan: Upskill, Create, and Conquer

This is a submission for the 2025 New Year Writing challenge: Compiling 2025.

🌍🙋🏻‍♀️📋 Overview

Hello, everyone! My name is Divya, a first-year M.Tech student in Computer Science. The journey leading up to this moment has been nothing short of transformative— filled with its fair share of transitions, challenges, and moments of triumph as well as despair. But here I am, ready to embrace a new year, armed with determination and a clear vision. This year, my focus is on upskilling myself to unlock promising placement opportunities and dive into the world of freelance development. My ultimate aspiration? To achieve financial self-sufficiency and carve out a fulfilling career path in the field of Web Development. This article is both my learning plan and a roadmap of resources to follow this year.

🧠🎯💸 Main Goals

Here are my main goals for the year:

1. Secure on-campus placement opportunities.
2. Land awesome remote job opportunities.
3. Successfully obtain and complete freelance projects.

🔗❤️ Interests

This year, I’ve set my sights on several key areas to elevate my expertise:

1. 🌐Web Development: I’m passionate about honing my web development skills, and crafting visually striking & technically sound projects. Web Development is my main career path as of now.

2. 👩🏻‍💻Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA): Enhancing my problem-solving abilities through DSA in JavaScript is high on my priority list. Mastery in this area will serve as a significant asset for placement preparation.

3. 👩‍🔬Generative AI: Generative AI is the new up-and-coming field, it's exciting to me, and hence I plan to create some impressive, real-world problem-solving projects in this domain.

4. No-Code Development Platforms: Exploring tools like Wix Studio, Framer, Webflow, and WordPress, and building 2 to 3 solid projects in each of these. Through this, I’ll not only boost my UI/UX and Figma skills but also broaden my horizons in the design and development space.

5. Digital Marketing: In today’s digital-first world, marketing oneself is not an option; it’s a necessity. I plan to grasp the basics of digital marketing to create a compelling personal brand that resonates with employers and clients alike. Like come on, we even need to market ourselves to potential employees and/or clients for jobs/gigs, right?
