I have been developing for a number of years, and always really enjoyed getting stuck into a complex program to write, getting involved in all the details of the application. However a solution Architect needs to be able to also look at the bigger picture.
A cloud architect plays a pivotal role in enabling the businesses to deliver scalable solutions. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and a focus on business outcomes.
Core Attributes of a Good Cloud Architect
1. Technical Expertise
A cloud architect must have in-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and the services they offer. This includes understanding compute, storage, networking, security, and deployment models such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
Key technical skills include:
Cloud-native architectures (e.g., microservices, serverless computing).

I found in my career a good cloud architect is a blend of technologist, strategist, and communicator. Its not just design cloud systems, but enable businesses goals, increase productivity, clear vision, bring innovation, efficiency, and reliability in a solution.
