I think developers get a lot of perks that many not every type of job gets. The problem is when companies think its ok to work their employees extreme hours until they break. This is bad no matter what type of job.
It depends on the company, but I'd say there are worse jobs.
I enjoy being a developer, although sometimes it can get really stressful.
