In this week's article, we're excited to unveil the finalists of the 2023 Golden Kitty Award in the open-source category!

For those new to it, the Golden Kitty Award is a prestigious yearly event honouring the best product innovations on Product Hunt.

We have also added, where applicable, a Contributor's Corner, tailored for readers keen on contributing to these projects.

  • Stability-AI built Stable Diffusion, an open-source image-generating AI project.
  • Its flexible plugin system allows integration with any backend service.
  • Stable diffusion includes models for image variation, mixing operations, and fine-tuning capabilities.

  • Tiledesk is a no-code platform for crafting chatbots and conversational apps powered by LLMs.
  • Users can share them freely with the community of chatbot developers, automation specialists, and conversation and prompt designers.
  • Features include drag-and-drop interface, ChatGPT integration, and pre-designed conversations.

The Hello Kitty Award also includes a shortlist of outstanding open-source projects. We wanted to give a special shoutout to below three.

n8n

  • n8n offers workflow automation. It enables connections across any app with a node-based design.
  • It boasts over 200 integrations, facilitating seamless workflow automation across various platforms and services.
  • n8n adopts a fair-code distribution model, ensuring source code visibility, self-hosting capabilities, and customisation options.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป Contributors Corner: ~39,400 stars, ~97% reply rate, ~16 hours median merge time, ~170 issues, repo written in TS (~90%) and Vue (~10%).

in total, Product Hunt highlighted 14 open-source projects this year. fwiw I analyzed their launches and published my key takeaways in this GitHub discussion.
