Shaping the future of ethical AI
At Hedera, we believe in leveraging decentralized technologies to create a more equitable, transparent, and sustainable digital future. That’s why we’re excited to announce our membership in the Decentralized AI Society (DAIS), an alliance of leading Web3 and artificial intelligence organizations committed to fostering the ethical development and adoption of decentralized AI (DeAI).
Joining DAIS is a natural extension of Hedera’s mission to bridge the gap between enterprises and decentralized technologies. Over the past eight years, Hedera has supported the development of robust enterprise-grade solutions powered by distributed ledger technology (DLT), and we’re proud to bring this expertise to DAIS. Together with the new DAIS members, we aim to ensure that the AI space evolves in a way that prioritizes transparency, fairness, and accessibility.
Collaborating for a Decentralized AI Future
DAIS, launched in September 2024, unites organizations dedicated to preventing the concentration of power that has historically defined the Web2 economy. Its mission is to champion a decentralized approach to AI development, governance, and ownership, ensuring this technology benefits everyone rather than just a select few.
As DAIS grows, the addition of Hedera, NEAR Foundation and Secret Network to the Society represents a significant milestone in its journey. Each organization brings unique strengths to the table: Hedera offers a trusted bridge to enterprise adoption of decentralized technologies, NEAR draws on its pioneering AI capabilities, and Secret advances critical confidential computing infrastructure for AI applications.
Michael Casey, Chair of DAIS, highlighted the importance of these new members: “The accelerating membership growth at DAIS is validation of decentralized AI’s potential as a transformative technology movement and that it represents a core use case for the data integrity and distributed ownership qualities enabled by blockchain technology. These new members are all providing critical, complementary components of the DeAI stack.”
Hedera’s Commitment to Responsible AI
Hedera’s involvement with DAIS will focus on fostering collaboration among stakeholders to build industry-wide frameworks that prioritize ethical AI development and practical applications. The future of AI must emphasize user-centric design, decentralized ownership, and transparent governance, and by supporting such initiatives, we aim to unlock AI’s potential without compromising ethics or security.

We are particularly excited about the opportunity to shape global standards that promote interoperability, transparency, and privacy in the evolving DeAI landscape.
DAIS Decentralized AI Salon at Davos
DAIS will host a “Decentralized AI Salon” on January 21 during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Hedera is proud to support this event, which will explore the opportunities and challenges of decentralized AI while promoting collaboration and shared innovation. This event will feature a fireside chat with Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-Founder of Hedera and Hashgraph, as well as a panel discussion on data integrity featuring Hedera’s COO Shyam Nagarajan alongside ProveAI’s CEO Mrinal Manohar.
