Rails app running slow? Running into memory issues?

Try adding require false in your gemfile.

gem "my-bloated-memory-hog", require: false

You'll need to add the require "my-bloated-memory-hog" wherever you need access to this gem. BUT, your app will be much less of a memory hog.
