Axe-Con 2025 was last week. I've had time to digest and think about it. You may still be able to register and watch the talks on Demand. Axe-Con 2025.
My favorite talk came with a content warning. David Thomas talks about ills of social media including how a certain company's algorithm helped promote a genocide. But there's more to this talk.
He also talks about how certain societies have a different approach. How they focus on helping others. If we designed the web in this way we could enrich society.
"No, Seriously, F*ck Engagement: Building a More Human Web" by David Dylan Thomas of Design for Cognitive Bias.
"What if entering into a dialogue with Indigenous design could allow us to imagine a web that cares about people more than it cares about money? "
There's an exert on his linkedin. Watch the full talk if you have the opportunity.
If you can't register for Axe-Con now, this talk is online in other places. I had a link of him giving the talk elsewhere, but can't find as of press time. Caution Warning there is some heavy content in this talk.
