Prompt for day 8: 404 Page Design

Design a 404 page - that's not boring!

Does it suit the brand's style? Is it user-friendly? It might sound interesting, but not everything can be flashy or glamorous. Every day millions of people will be landing on 404 pages. You have an opportunity to help them in a way that's useful and aesthetically pleasing. (It's up to you!)

The design:

Daily UI Day 8 design

Description: If the Pikmin series had a new wiki promoting Pikmin 5 or a Pikmin 4 DLC it would be awesome to see by Nintendo

Fonts: Bazooka | Poppins

Colors:

  • Red | Yellow | Blue (reflecting the first three Pikmin colors)
  • Black | Green | White | #EAD0A8

What dictated my design choice:

  1. Brand Consistency
The design uses Pikmin’s iconic red, yellow, and blue color palette to reflect the series' playful and adventurous nature while maintaining a sense of familiarity for fans.

  2. Playful Typography
Bazooka adds a bold and energetic headline feel, perfect for grabbing attention. Poppins complements it by offering readability for body text without stealing focus.

  3. Engaging Visuals
The whimsical Pikmin-inspired nature theme encourages exploration and creates a delightful experience even in an error scenario, aligning with the series’ adventurous spirit.

  4. User-Friendliness
The page provides clear navigation options, such as returning to the homepage or exploring other sections of the site, minimizing frustration for users.

  5. Aesthetic Balance
Warm secondary tones, like #EAD0A8 and green, provide harmony, balancing the bold primary colors and ensuring the design is visually appealing and cohesive.

Conclusion

This 404 page design transforms a typical error experience into a memorable and delightful moment. By combining playful visuals, brand-centric colors, and user-friendly navigation, it aligns with the Pikmin universe’s charm while offering practicality. It’s a perfect way to turn a potential point of frustration into an opportunity to engage and guide users seamlessly.
