As the crowd buzzed with anticipation, the opening remarks set the tone with a powerful reflection on the journey of WordCamp in Asia, harking back to the very first Southeast Asian WordCamp in Manila in 2008, brought to life by passionate volunteers from Davao. This full-circle moment reminded everyone of the true spirit of open-source collaboration and community-driven growth.
The day’s excitement was palpable despite a few unexpected moments—handled with the trademark composure and enthusiasm of the organizing team, dedicated volunteers, and attendees alike. The opening keynote by Global and Local Leads, followed by an electrifying address from Matías Ventura—the mastermind behind Gutenberg—captivated the audience. His session not only provided cutting-edge insights into the future of the block editor but also stoked excitement for what’s next for WordPress.
Prior to the main sessions, Contributor Day saw nearly 800 participants collaborate on enhancing WordPress. Attendees tackled critical issues such as resolving media-related bugs, improving accessibility features, and contributing directly to the core platform. This collaborative spirit set a powerful tone for the rest of the conference and reinforced the strength of the global WordPress ecosystem.
The main conference days featured a robust lineup of insightful sessions and hands-on workshops.
