WordCamp Asia 2025 - The WordPress Event That Will Blow Your Mind!

“WordCamp Asia 2025 not only celebrated the present of WordPress innovation but also set the stage for a future filled with boundless potential. The passion, collaboration, and forward-thinking spirit of the community were truly on display, making this a landmark event for all involve”

WordCamp Asia 2025, held from February 20 to 22 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila, Philippines, was a monumental gathering for the global WordPress community. The event brought together over 1,4K+ in-person attendees from 71 countries, fostering collaboration, learning, and networking among developers, designers, and content creators.

With nearly 15,000 virtual participants tuning in worldwide, WordCamp Asia 2025 celebrated the power of open-source innovation. From insightful keynotes to hands-on workshops, the conference provided valuable opportunities for attendees to engage with industry leaders and contribute to the future of WordPress.

The energy was electric from the very first moment. Day 1 kicked off at the PICC with an incredible turnout—1,375 attendees registered over the past two days, filling the Rizal Room to the brim. As the crowd buzzed with anticipation, the opening remarks set the tone with a powerful reflection on the journey of WordCamp in Asia, harking back to the very first Southeast Asian WordCamp in Manila in 2008, brought to life by passionate volunteers from Davao. This full-circle moment reminded everyone of the true spirit of open-source collaboration and community-driven growth.

The day’s excitement was palpable despite a few unexpected moments—handled with the trademark composure and enthusiasm of the organizing team, dedicated volunteers, and attendees alike. The opening keynote by Global and Local Leads, followed by an electrifying address from Matías Ventura—the mastermind behind Gutenberg—captivated the audience. His session not only provided cutting-edge insights into the future of the block editor but also stoked excitement for what’s next for WordPress.

Prior to the main sessions, Contributor Day saw nearly 800 participants collaborate on enhancing WordPress. Attendees tackled critical issues such as resolving media-related bugs, improving accessibility features, and contributing directly to the core platform. This collaborative spirit set a powerful tone for the rest of the conference and reinforced the strength of the global WordPress ecosystem.

The main conference days featured a robust lineup of insightful sessions and hands-on workshops. Distinguished speakers—including WordPress Co-Founder Matt Mullenweg and Gutenberg Lead Architect Matías Ventura—shared valuable perspectives on site editing, performance optimization, and emerging AI-powered tools. In between sessions, the vibrant sponsor hall became a hub of activity. Companies from across the WordPress ecosystem showcased their products and services, offering live demos, exciting giveaways, and, of course, some fantastic swag. This space provided a unique opportunity for attendees to engage directly with sponsors, discover innovative tools, and forge new industry connections.

A diverse lunch buffet featuring local Filipino favorites provided not just nourishment but also a prime networking opportunity. Conversations flowed freely, new friendships were formed, and the spirit of community shone brightly during this informal gathering.
After lunch, the momentum continued with deep-dive workshops and interactive panels. Sessions ranged from mastering plugin development to navigating seamless site migrations—ensuring that both newcomers and seasoned professionals left with actionable insights.

Exciting New Initiatives and Beyond

WordCamp Asia 2025 also introduced several groundbreaking initiatives designed to enrich the attendee experience:
Solutions Spotlight: Rapid 10-minute lightning talks that highlighted innovative products and best practices within the WordPress ecosystem.
YouthCamp: A specially tailored program for young minds aged 8–17, providing hands-on training and an introduction to WordPress and open-source development.
