iDevice Pro Tip: Selecting Multiple Messages with a Single Swipe 💬

Abstract ✳️

Here's a brief iOS/iPadOS Pro Tip you may append to your repertoire of myriad skills, and begin to employ in your daily usage—hopefully in a manner that saves you time and makes your life more convenient.

Intro 🔦

When selecting a series of messages in a given conversation on an iPhone or iPad—whether your own or the recipient’s—there is a technique you can choose to utilize in order to speed up the process in its entirety—and here it is.

How-To 📲

After initiating the selection process, either by double-tapping with two fingers on iOS Thirteen or, alternatively, the tried-and-true method of long-pressing on a non-specific message, you are presented with two options:

Swipe upwards in a crescent, or half-circle (right-to-left/left-to-right), formation—such as this:

Upwards crescent (half-circle) swipe animation

• … Or, alternatively, swipe directly left/right, then upwards—such as this:

Upwards ninety-degree turn swipe animation

And from there, you may either delete the selected messages, or proceed with the other arbitrary actions shown in the pop-up menu.

Outro ✅

Hopefully this bit of information was of help & convenience; more articles on art, design, technology, music, and more to come.
