Hi, I hope that you are doing well.
This will probably be my last article for 2024, and I hope you had a great year.
I had an interesting year, I...

Without malice I have to say, I am so tired of this title for articles. I clicked through to say it. And scanning the article and the comments, I see the opinions run the gamut.
1 - to those who hold out hope that their humanity will keep them from being overrun by an AI agent, please stop and ask what evidence is there that we can put faith in that paradigm? I remember describing a robot arm to a fellow employee doing our jobs in the future. He said "that's impossible" and it happened promptly.
2 - thinking of yourself as without value if you don't have *this version of *this job is self limiting.
3 - people interested in learning SE skills aren't motivated by all the "change the world!" talk. They're just trying to understand LISKOV. Or 12 factor. Or time complexity. They should remain focused on that.
4 - if we want to be in the future loop there are many roads. Not the least of which is competency. If we have solid foundations for the history of computer science and languages and platforms, we'll understand what AI is doing.
5 - We will be able to create with AI in our toolbelts now.
6 - you must add AI competencies to the core competencies and excel or work toward excelling in implementation, testing and analysis.
If your job is taken by AI, create a new job. Use AI.
Software engineering is less about creating the next big thing (maybe you will) and more about contributing in the team meeting and providing solutions. AI isn't taking that away. It's changing the tool kit.

Thank you for motivation i get from reading this article. The perspective DAMM. need to review my perspective.
Thanks for your article. I am new, I am still learning but I am asking myself: if AI will "eat" newbie, how we will learn? The new generations are lose? Is this a countdown?
I see it now 🤔. If you have no robust projects to showcase, like typically some new and creative, then leaving the field of SE maybe remain your only option.
