GitHub or Personal Portfolio ?

Hello everyone !

Yesterday I received a sales email from a website host company and I got really excited about the ideia of having my own space on the Internet.
But a few minutes later I started thinking if it's worth having a website to put my projects on it, since we have GitHub for it (And I personally think that is a great platform).

If I got my own website, I wouldn't stop posting my projects on GitHub since a lot of companies use it to evaluate candidates.

I just wanted to know from you guys if it's worth buying a host to my projects on and have my own platform.

Hello, I personally have both.

I upload all my projects to github and have a personal portfolio where i have a link to the corresponding github project. My personal portfolio website is hosted by github pages which is free.

Now if you want to host your github projects you can use github pages for static sites or you can use other services like heroku to host nodejs ruby or other projects. Heroku is also free so if you have the time to develop a personal portfolio i would suggest to do it. It can only help πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Hey !

I didn't know about GitHub pages, that's a great ideia to begin with !
Heroku is an amazing platform, I did some tests on it with a NodeJS app.

Thank you very much for your help, I will consider using both.
Have a great day =D
