For me, one of the most difficult aspects is the constant tension between my introversion and the amount of energy I need to exude throughout a day in a lead position. I love helping and mentoring, but I also feel exhausted at the end of the day sometimes. It helps to take time regularly to recharge!
For me, the hardest part of leading is not managing the people, even the not so successful employees. The hardest part is trying to explain why we should ensure high quality in the face of overpromised deadlines. Executives whoโve never led software teams before do not understand that software is not black and white.
