Show Notes

This episode is a "blind episode" where a collection of questions and/or scenarios are prepared by Matt in secret and then shown to Mike for the first time during recording to get an on-the-spot reaction.

Scenario 1 - Small Accountant Office

A client calls your agency and asks for SEO assistance. They have a Facebook page for their small business that mostly serves local customers. They’re receiving complaints from their clients that their business is too difficult to find online when people want to reach out, or navigate to their storefront.

Scenario 2 - #1 Google

A belligerent client calls your agency and says that he needs to be #1 Google. Upon prying you find out that details about his business are sketchy at best - the client won’t tell you many details, he just wants you to execute his demands - get to the #1 spot on Google. This client has a small budget and refuses to be involved with the process. A summary of this case is “Just make it happen”

Scenario 3 - Fixer Upper

A client calls your agency as a call for help. They run a local construction office that sometimes has clients show up in-person to share construction plans and organize large projects. They also field a lot of phone calls from prospective leads, but some customers are complaining that their calls don’t seem to be going through and that it’s likely because they have multiple numbers listed for the same purpose.

They’ve attempted to get their online presence fully set up in the past, which has resulted in:

  • Google My Business card with some missing and inaccurate info
  • A WordPress site that has bad performance
  • Social media profiles that largely look incomplete (missing bios, inconsistent posting types and schedule)
  • A blog section on their website that has been left abandoned with only the first “Hello World” sample post

Upon investigating the website yourself you find:

  • That they’re putting in SEO titles and Descriptions that are way too long and on some pages they’re missing
  • Any pages that are longform with multiple headings are not in the proper order (h1-h6)
  • The information on the Contact Us page is inconsistent with the information found on the Google My Business card

What would you do to fix this scenario?
