Hi there,
My name is Matt and I am a career changer / switcher. I used to drive truck and trailer units for a living up and down the country. After getting so sick I could no longer work in that industry I fell into a dark place, my family saw this and pushed my head out of the grey and told me to go back to my first love which was IT. So here I am :) Software Development has always been a dream career of mine and I am going to make the most of it.
Thanks for reading this.

If youβve found your way to DEV youβre on the right track!
What kind of languages are you interested in? Or put in a different way, what kind of things would you want to make/work on? It's such a hard thing to switch and it's definitely a bumpy road, but persistence is key. When things seem insurmountable, that's the most important time to remember why you chose to go this path in the first place.
Be kind to yourself, take time for yourself and reach out to your community (here or elsewhere). I'd love to provide some resources to you once I know what languages/projects you're interested in
I am currently studying with Yoobee Colleges to get my diploma in software development. I want to get into building secure apps.
I am enjoying learning C++ at the moment.
I had studied full stack development with the Developers Institute before they went under.
So that's where I am at right now.
Good luck
Wish you all the best. If you go for Golang, maybe some of my notes may help you github.com/vbd/Fieldnotes/blob/mai... or some of my other notes can be of help.
I only drive trucks in ETS. Hope you enjoy your IT career, it's a lot of fun learning new things!
Good luck!
You got this!
Best wishes for you !
Best of luck Matt, ygt!
You already have the patience of a long-distance driver. Software is very similar, you sit on your chair and stay focused. Good luck!
