WeDidIT: The Power of Technology in Volunteerism

That was the moment, in March 2020 when the world was facing COVID-19, a few passionate individuals came together and started WeDidIT Foundation. A simple project to promote volunteerism blossomed into a national event. WeDidIT, founded by Mr. Sree Krishna Seelam, was recently awarded the Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship Award at the ET Excellence Awards, a noteworthy step in its journey.

A Journey of Transformation
The journey of WeDidIT started at P.B. Siddhartha College in Vijayawada, when a simple suggestion turned to an idea which transformed the lives of many. During a seminar about startups, one student suggested starting a social initiative. The notion was the spark; by the first week WeDidIT was born—with a vision for an organization that would inspire leadership and social change through volunteerism.
WeDidIT had registered 3,450 volunteers—and 1,408 received certificates for their work as of November 2020. This couldn't have been possible without the dedicated 144 interns and contributors galore- Kashish Mahajan, Suparna Das, Vanshika, and so many others who connected volunteers, and managed all of these projects!

The ET Excellence Award: A Well-Deserved Recognition
The ET Excellence Awards recognise the most exceptional entrepreneurs from the Telugu states. They have an extensive vetting process which includes research and data collection, also a follow up with over 500 entities to verify information. Only those who fully participated were eligible for the award.

Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Volunteer Engagement is what sets WeDidIT Apart:
WeDidIT is known for its innovative use of tech and AI in its volunteer engagement and management. Utilizing AI technology and applications, the foundation is able to harmonize when matching potential volunteers with suitable project opportunities, which in turn provides workers with a more rewarding experience that is tailored to their particular vocation and vicinity.

This strategy can allow for Forces Technology to:
Optimizing Volunteer-Project Matches: With more data available, AI algorithms can analyze what potential volunteers have to offer and when they would be available, allowing projects to be matched more closely to community needs.
Training and Development: Volunteers can access resources and training modules through online platforms that develop essential skills that are necessary for today’s workforce, including: leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and community-building strategies.
Data-Driven Insights: Powered by analytics, WeDidIT can better measure the social impact of its efforts. With knowledge of how volunteers interact and the benefits produced, the foundation can adjust its actions and grow its impact.
Virtual Volunteering: By using virtual communication tools, especially during our pandemic years, we at WeDidIT were able to keep our relationship alive and allow volunteers to keep working. This allowed the foundation's mission to continue, even when it was impossible to volunteer physically.

In a time and place where emotional intelligence and capacity for collaboration are at a premium, WeDidIT says that volunteering builds character and empathy, which are two of the defining traits of the emerging leaders. As well as preparing young volunteers to have an influence in their neighborhoods today, the foundation instills skills that will set them in good stead in a technology-prosperous future.

WeDidIT is an example of how, through a combination of volunteerism and technology, people can come together to build a more gracious and empathetic world. Whether you can dedicate a few hours or participate in long-term projects, there are countless ways to get involved.

Join WeDidIT today. Together we can help change the world — one volunteer at a time!
WeDidIT! Will You?
