Left in the dust — these are the words that are not present in Google’s dictionary. When ChatGPT launched in late 2023, it took the world by storm, especially Gen-Z. Resignation letters. Sick leave emails. Logos. There’s literally nothing that ChatGPT couldn’t handle — except for becoming a chef. Sorry. No steak can be cooked in the dishwasher! ChatGPT, teach yourself.
Anyways, billions poured into OpenAI’s bank account within months. And why not? Till now, a staggering 180.5 million people use ChatGPT. But then, on December 6th, 2023, Google released its ChatGPT-4 alternative — Gemini AI, a multimodal. This means you can give it multiple data types at a time images, texts, etc — and get its response. Google subsidiaries — Google DeepMind — are the creators of this claimed ChatGPT-4 alternative.
Let’s look at some of its features.
As per Google, Gemini has defeated humans on Massive Multitask Language Understanding — a method used to gauge AI models’ knowledge and critical analysis.
It can run on data centers mobile devices to everything in between. It will have 3 modes: Ultra, Pro, and Nano. Google Bard is powered by Gemini Pro. It is completely free at the moment. It boasts features like solving basic tasks. I’m not sure how long this generosity will last.
Gemini Ultra is not released as of Dec 2023. But it’s probable that it will be released in 2024. It can perform one of the most complex tasks. In other words, it can be of great help to enterprise-level organizations. Gemini Nano will perform on-device tasks. From December 13, 2023, developers can access it with Gemini API or Google Cloud Vertx AI.
As per Google, Gemini is trained on AI-optimized infrastructure that also uses Tensor Processing units. It can understand written and visual information. It can not only create advanced codes but can also help a human understand them.
Nowadays, one video of Google Gemini is surfacing on the internet. Within minutes, it garners millions of views. Everyone was losing their mind. But then came one comment — the video is fake! Let’s see how Gemini can actually perform in real life. Till then, fingers crossed, Gemini.
