fitche is a decentralized social media app that prioritizes privacy and security through end-to-end encryption.
Built on blockchain technology, we ensure transparency through weekly releases of the source code and audits by independent third parties.
Every interaction is encrypted therefore users retain full ownership of their personal data.
What is end-to-end encryption?
End-to-end encryption ensures that your data can only be read by you and your intended recipients. Not even fitche can access your encrypted data.
What type of encryption is used?
RSA with a 4096-bit key to securely exchange the AES key. For encrypting your data, we use AES-GCM with a 256-bit key, which is both fast and secure. Additionally, PBKDF2 with a 128-bit salt helps create a secure seed from your recovery code, which is then used to generate RSA keys, making it harder against brute force attacks.
Where is my data stored?
All encryption and decryption occurs on your device. The server only stores encrypted data and never has access to your private keys. You can choose between local storage or encrypted cloud storage.
How does the recovery system work?
When you sign up, you receive private keys for daily use and a recovery code for backup. The recovery code can restore access to your account if you lose your device or need to set up on a new device.
What happens If I lose my recovery code?
If you lose your recovery code, there is nothing fitche can do. You can keep your username if you know your passwords, but your data will be lost.
