We present a case of carbapenemase-producing blaNDM-1-positive Salmonella Kottbus in an 82-year-old Danish man. The blaNDM-1 was also identified in Escherichia coli and Citrobacter freundii in the same patient on the same 43 kb IncN2 plasmid, suggesting in vivo inter-species plasmid transfer. A NCBI BLAST analysis of the plasmid (pAMA003584_NDM-1) identified 12 highly similar plasmids, all originating from east and south-east Asia. This case could be the first confirmed case of blaNDM-1-positive Salmonella not related to travel outside Europe.SARS-CoV-2 Delta (B.1.617.2) variant of concern (VOC) and other VOCs are spreading in Europe. Micro-neutralisation assays with sera obtained after Comirnaty (BNT162b2, BioNTech/Pfizer) vaccination in 36 healthcare workers (31 female) demonstrated significant fold change reduction in neutralising titres compared with the original virus Gamma (P.1) 2.3, Beta (B.1.351) 10.4, Delta 2.1 and 2.6. The reduction of the Alpha (B.1.1.7) variant was not significant. Despite being lower, remaining neutralisation capacity conferred by Comirnaty against Delta and other VOCs is probably protective.
This research aimed to study the short-term seizure outcomes following treatment with 8 mg/kg/day prednisolone in children with infantile spasms (IS) refractory to vigabatrin. Linsitinib We hypothesized that high-dose prednisolone may result in similar rates of electroclinical remission when compared to published ACTH rates.
All consecutive children with hypsarrhythmia or hypsarrhythmia variant on EEG with/without IS, who had been treated with vigabatrin as first-line anti-seizure medication (ASM) followed by high-dose oral prednisolone (8 mg/kg/day; maximum 60 mg/day) in cases who did not respond to vigabatrin, were included. Clinical and electroclinical response (ECR) at 2 weeks following initiation of treatment and adverse effects were assessed.
Sixty-five children were included. A genetic etiology was seen in 38.5% cases. Complete ECR was seen in 30.8% (20/65) of the patients 2 weeks after vigabatrin. Complete ECR was noted in 77.8% (35/45) of the patients, 2 weeks after prednisolone initiation in children who failed vigabatrin, and this was sustained at 6 weeks in 66.7% (30/45) patients. Prednisolone was generally well tolerated.
High-dose (8 mg/kg/day) oral prednisolone resulted in sustained complete ECR (at 6 weeks) in two-thirds of the children with hypsarrhythmia or hypsarrhythmia variant on EEG with/without parentally reported IS. It was generally well tolerated and found to be safe.

Dietary indexes measure the adherence of individuals to a set of nutritional recommendations. However, the health gains associated with adherence to various dietary indexes may vary. Our objective was to compare the magnitude of estimated avoided deaths by chronic diseases obtained by improving diet quality in the French population, measured by a variety of dietary indexes.
Simulation study based on observational data.
Weighted data from a French population-based cohort study.
In participants from the NutriNet-Santé cohort, we computed dietary scores reflecting the adherence to various recommendations (Medi-Lite, Healthy Diet Indicator (HDI), Programme National Nutrition Santé/National Nutrition and Health Program - Guidelines Score, Diet Quality Index (DQI), Alternative Healthy Eating Index (AHEI) and the modified Food Standards Agency nutrient profiling system dietary index (FSAm-NPS DI)). Quintiles of the food groups' consumption and dietary intakes were used as input in a simulation model (Prevent of following various dietary guidelines to reduce mortality from nutrition-related diseases.
Our results provide some insights as the potential impact of following various dietary guidelines to reduce mortality from nutrition-related diseases.
To estimate the prevalence of anaemia in Brazilian children up to 83·9 months old.
Systematic review and meta-analysis, using databases PubMed, Scopus, SciELO, Lilacs, Google Scholar, Periódicos Capes, Arca, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Microsoft Academic Search and Cochrane Library using search terms anaemia, prevalence, child and Brazil. PROSPERO Registration number CRD42020208818.
Cross-sectional, cohort, case-control and intervention studies published between 2007 and 2020 were searched, excluding those who assessed children with an illness or chronic condition. The main outcome was anaemia prevalence. Random effects models based on the inverse variance method were used to estimate pooled prevalence measures. Sensitivity analyses removed studies with high contribution to overall heterogeneity.
From 6790 first screened, 134 eligible studies were included, totalling 46978 children aged zero to 83·9 months analysed, with adequate regions representativeness.
Pooled prevalence of anaemia was 33 % (95trength to the results. In Brazil, more public policies are needed to promote supplementation, fortification and access to healthy eating to reduce the high level of anaemia among children.Using data from a nationally generalisable birth cohort, we aimed to (i) describe the cohort's adherence to national evidence-based dietary guidelines using an Infant Feeding Index (IFI) and (ii) assess the IFI's convergent construct validity, by exploring associations with antenatal maternal socio-demographic and health behaviours and with child overweight/obesity and central adiposity at age 54 months. Data were from the Growing Up in New Zealand cohort (n 6343). The IFI scores ranged from zero to twelve points, with twelve representing full adherence to the guidelines. Overweight/obesity was defined by BMI-for-age (based on the WHO Growth Standards). Central adiposity was defined as waist-to-height ratio > 90th percentile. Associations were tested using multiple linear regression and Poisson regression with robust variance (risk ratios, 95 % CI). Mean IFI score was 8·2 (sd 2·1). Maternal characteristics explained 29·1 % of variation in the IFI score. Maternal age, education and smoking had the strongest independent relationships with IFI scores.Linsitinib
