3 Easy Commands to Install Postman in Kali Linux

Introduction

For an effective development environment especially back-end, you will require postman to test your endpoints. It has been constantly said that Debian environments are ideal for Software development/engineering processes. Having said this, I will take 3 simple steps to install Postman in Kali Linux.

Requirements

  • Internet
  • Proficiency with Command utility
  • x64 Linux architecture

Download Postman

1.Extract the folder using the following command and a Postman folder will be created:

sudo tar -xvz -f postman-linux-x64.tar.gz
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

2.Move the folder to the root opt folder

sudo mv Postman /opt/
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

3.Navigate to this folder /usr/share/applications/ and create a file Postman.desktop and open the nano editor

touch Postman.desktop && nano Postman.desktop
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

write the following content

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Postman
Exec=/opt/Postman/app/Postman %U
Icon=/opt/Postman/app/resources/app/assets/icon.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Development;
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

You have successfully installed Postman!
