Emotional stress is associated with future cardiovascular events. However, the mechanistic linkage of brain emotional neural activity with acute plaque instability is not fully elucidated. We aimed to prospectively estimate the relationship between brain amygdalar activity (AmygA), arterial inflammation (AI), and macrophage haematopoiesis (HEMA) in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) as compared with controls.

18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) imaging was performed within 45 days of the index episode in 62 patients (45 with AMI, mean 60.0 years, 84.4% male; 17 controls, mean 59.6 years, 76.4% male). The daily oral dosing requirement for antiretroviral therapy (ART) may be challenging for some people living with HIV (PLWHIV) with comorbid conditions, confidentiality concerns or pill fatigue. We investigated suboptimal adherence from the perspective of PLWHIV and HIV physicians.

PLWHIV on ART (n = 688) and HIV physicians (n = 120) were surveyed during 2019 in France, Germany, Italy and the UK. Fecal samples were collected in 2226 participants of the population-based Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP/SHIP-TREND) to determine exocrine pancreatic function (pancreatic elastase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) and intestinal microbiota profiles (16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid gene sequencing).
