What I've learn from 3 years freelancing

Context...

  • I don't have any degree, neither in cs nor another field
  • I start learning programming for fun, than for wasting my time during covid-19 pandemic era becouse you know nothing to do back then
  • In 2021, I tried to find small freelancing projects
  • In November 2023, I've completed more than 150 projects
  • I've done it using one or more of these programming language: javascript, typescript, python, c, and dart
  • I've done it targeting one or more of these platform: web, desktop, mobile, cloud
  • I've done it in these one or more caregories: web dev, mobile dev, data science, machine learning, scripting
  • And yeah 90% of it is just a small projects
  • A little story of my first project in bahasa indonesia: Proyek Freelance Pertama Saya

Here's what I've learn:

  • It's not the code that couse the bug, it's you
  • AI is the next big thing, and it already happening
  • Strong programming foundations will bring you far
  • I learn more by doing projects than watching tutorials and reading articles or even attending courses
  • Dont get me wrong, I'm still watching, reading and attending courses, my point is, find real projects to apply what you've learn
