How to Care for Your Saleberate Wooden Chopping Board

Owning a wooden chopping board is more than just a kitchen essential; it’s a choice for durability and a touch of natural elegance. As someone who loves my Saleberate chopping board, I know the value of maintaining its beauty and ensuring it lasts. Here’s my go-to guide for simple yet effective care.

  1. Clean Right After Use

Wood can absorb stains and odors, so it’s essential to clean the board right after each use. I use warm, soapy water and a gentle scrub with a soft sponge. Avoid soaking the board in water—it can cause warping over time.

  1. Avoid the Dishwasher

While it’s tempting to throw everything into the dishwasher, wooden boards need handwashing only. The high heat and water exposure can damage the wood, causing cracks and reducing its lifespan.

  1. Dry Thoroughly

After washing, I pat the board dry with a towel and let it air-dry standing upright. Keeping it dry helps prevent bacteria growth and keeps the wood in good shape.

  1. Oil Regularly for Longevity

To maintain the rich, natural color of my Saleberate chopping board, I oil it every month. A food-grade mineral oil works wonders—it protects the wood and gives it a beautiful sheen. Simply apply a small amount, let it sit for a few hours, and wipe off any excess with a cloth.

  1. Avoid Raw Meat and Fish

To minimize odors and bacteria, I use separate boards for meat and fish. For my wooden board, I stick to fruits, vegetables, and bread. It’s a small change that keeps my board fresh and looking its best.

With just a few mindful practices, you can keep your wooden chopping board as stunning as the day you bought it.
