AWS Cloud Path Week 3 - Building and Managing with the Console (Part 1)

Welcome back, cloud enthusiasts! Week 3 of the AWS Cloud Path has been an exciting hands-on journey as we took a dive into the AWS Management Console to manage and create foundational resources. Here’s a recap of what we accomplished and a glimpse of what’s coming next.

Week 3 Highlights

This week, we focused on building and managing AWS resources through the console as part of the AWS 101 Workshop. Here’s what we covered:

  • Understanding the Architecture: We started by breaking down the architecture of the workshop, setting a solid foundation for understanding how all the components interact.
  • Hands-on Resource Creation:
    • Setup Networking (VPC): Configured a Virtual Private Cloud to create an isolated network environment.
    • Resource Security (SGs): Defined security groups to control inbound and outbound traffic.
    • Access Management (IAM): Set up users and roles with secure permission policies.
    • Deploy Compute (EC2): Launched and configured EC2 instances as the compute layer of our architecture.

What’s Next: Week 4 Preview

Next week, we’re continuing with the AWS 101 Workshop and diving deeper into AWS services and their applications. Here’s what to expect:

  • Completing the Workshop: We’ll tackle the remaining tasks, including:
    • Administering Web Servers (SSM).
    • Setting up Load Balancing (ALB) for high availability.
    • Exploring Storage (S3) and Scaling (ASG).
  • Preparing for Automation: We’ll start discussing how to translate these tasks into commands using the AWS CLI and Infrastructure as Code.

💡 Pro Tip: If you’re following along, revisit the CLI setup from Week 2 and brush up on the services we explored this week. This preparation will make Week 4 even more impactful!
