Lately, I had to choose which tech career to focus on. At that point, I experienced what is known as decision paralysis—a state where you're unable to decide due to the overwhelming number of options available.
Instead of choosing one path, I tried to do everything. I wanted to be a modern polymath, someone who knows a little bit of everything. People might have called me a jack of all trades but a master of none—and for a while, that was true.
With all the hype around AI, Data Science, and Machine Learning, I chose Python. It was easy to understand, had a simple syntax, and was widely used. But something felt off. Even though Python was easy, I didn’t feel fulfilled. I was searching for the best programming language, the best career—until I realized that there is no "best." Instead of chasing perfection, I needed to pick one thing and stick with it.
I tried almost everything—C#, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, C, SQL, and PHP. But the only time I truly felt happy was when I was building and deploying websites. However, with the rise of AI, I feared that web development would become obsolete. So, I quit and started searching for a new career.
Looking back, my coding journey was all over the place. But now, I’ve finally made a decision: I will focus on what makes me happy—web development, with JavaScript as my primary language.
At 18 years old, I thought the world would end if I didn’t figure everything out quickly. But now I realize that was just a figment of my imagination. The truth is, I should enjoy the process instead of rushing through it.
To anyone trying to break into tech:
Don’t let anyone define your journey or how long it should take you to learn. Take your time, and don’t care about what others think.
I’ll be posting regularly about my web development journey. Thank you for reading, and I wish you all the best in your endeavors!
