How I Built an AI-Powered Learning App: LearnInFive

Hi everyone!

I recently built an open-source project called LearnInFive, and I wanted to share the journey of how I built it, the challenges I faced, and what’s next for the project.

What is LearnInFive?

LearnInFive is a simple AI-powered web app that generates a new Computer Science or Programming concept every day and explains it in a way that’s easy to understand. It provides:

Definitions: Clear and concise explanations.
Real-world analogies: To make concepts relatable.
Code examples: In multiple programming languages.
Mini-quizzes: To validate your knowledge.

The idea is to make learning quick and accessible—just 5 minutes of your day is enough to learn something new or refresh your memory.

Tech Stack:

Frontend: React, TypeScript, Zustand, TanStack Router, TanStack Query, Chakra UI, Vite
Backend: Node.js, Express, TypeScript, MongoDB
AI Model: OpenAI API (GPT-4o-mini)

Challenges I faced:

Integrating AI: Ensuring the AI-generated content is accurate and engaging.
Performance: Since I’m using free-tier services, there are occasional delays in loading.
Designing for simplicity: Making the UI intuitive and user-friendly.

What’s next?

I plan to expand LearnInFive to cover more topics (e.g., science, math, sports) and improve the app’s performance.

Try it out!

I’d love your feedback and ideas for improvement! 😊
