Introducing: DevOps & Chill

I've been meaning to try out Twitch for a long time; I think it's a great platform and a fun way to share how to do tech things such as programming and setting up servers. However, every time I'd consider doing it, I would always get to the barrier of narration. I don't enjoy solving problems and speaking at the same time, it just doesn't feel natural to me, like a regular working situation.

There are certainly a lot of folks streaming these days, and I can understand how talking over / narrating what you're doing can be helpful and make it more accessible for some people. However, I came to terms with the fact that I don't need to be doing it like everyone else is, and that there must be people out there who are just like me, and prefer learning with their eyes rather than their ears. Some of these people might not even have a choice - so doing a voiceless stream sounded like a viable option, somehow.

And that's the story of how DevOps & Chill came to realization :) The idea is nothing new: screen only, and a chill music in the background, which you can turn off if you want, since audio is not a requirement. I write notes in a text editor with big fonts to give additional details of what I'm doing. And that's pretty much it.

If you would like to watch it live, you can join me on Twitch every Friday at 6pm CEST. I'm also uploading these videos to my YouTube Channel.

Without further ado, I present you the second episode of DevOps & Chill, where we create an Ansible playbook to automate the initial setup of an Ubuntu server. You can mute or speed up the video to 1.5x for instance, to adjust for a faster pace. No audio required.

This is really cool. Actually, I think I prefer this to narration, as well.

Thank you, I am glad to find someone else who feels that way! <3
