One factor in any good idea is whether you can see yourself still being interested in it when you start facing the really deep challenges.
That's not necessarily where the ideas come from β there has to be an observation-of-the-environment factor, but it's a selection filter.
I've built (successful) SaaS/web apps for over 10 years. But most apply to apps for phone too. Some random thoughts:
If Iβm out of ideas for creating app, I just hop on the App Store, look for popular mobile apps or games, and think about what new twist I can bring to a certain concept. For example, yesterday I released a game inspired by 2048, completely reworking the concept and visuals but keeping the core idea.
