In today’s work, due to the unclear configuration of the new project (with no technical documentation), I had to manually check the server for system process paths, startup methods, environment variables, etc. Additionally, domain configuration and load balancer settings had to be verified in AWS. These tasks are difficult to delegate to AI, especially when different people have maintained the environment in various ways. Not to mention, directly connecting AI to a production environment for queries and modifications poses uncontrollable risks. In the short term, this remains a challenge—though I believe many are already researching and developing solutions in this area.
I expect that Japan will continue to face a shortage of talent in digital transformation (DX) over the next 5 years. Especially with AI-generated code from beginners and difficult-to-maintain server configurations, demand shouldn’t be a concern just yet. However, it will be crucial to learn how to use AI tools correctly.
Despite the uncertainties about the future, the only way forward is to keep working and validating our ideas along the way.
