I wonder how many people would use an AI Agent directly for online purchases or logging into important online services like email or social media.
If you're writing your own automation scripts, you can store sensitive information in environment variables on your self-hosted Linux server and further encrypt it within the program to prevent plaintext exposure. Additional protections like program-level security or hardware encryption can also help safeguard personal data. However, with AI Agents, you're essentially handing over all your private information to the AI service provider.
That said, once this technology becomes widespread, many people who aren’t familiar with programming will likely start using these services to handle everyday tasks. I personally believe that as hardware improves, those who need this functionality will eventually shift toward local execution.
The research for my work today is still unfinished, so I’ll have to continue tomorrow. Although this cycle feels exhausting at times, I just need to push through this year.
