My New Year Resolutions

Calendar Days Are Reaching EOL For 2024

Service will resume on January 1st, 2025

I don't know about you, but 2024 went by exactly for one year. It wasn't a blur or a drag, but like a good house guest stayed for exactly the right time. But I didn't get the house ready for them, and their trip wasn't the most productive because of it. A lot of rummaging around, wondering where I put that decoration... I realize that the metaphor is breaking down, but you get the gist of it.

I didn't accomplish most of my New Year resolutions in 2024. Sure, I made progress on most of them, but very few of them I actually can check off on. In addition, I don't remember what resolutions I made nearly 365 days ago. So for 2025, I want to put my right foot forward and before the New Year organize my resolutions here. While I can't say that publishing them for the world to review will make me accomplish them, I think that the assumed pressure of you (the audience) will nudge me forward and stay on track to do so.

Resolutions

In no particular order:

  • I will write daily here on Dev.to about my developer journey and projects.
  • I will post daily to at least one social media account between Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • I will talk to at least one friend or family member per day over the phone. If I am going to meet someone in person, a phone call to them doesn't count,
  • I will accomplish 75 Hard,
  • I will optimize my time for learning and researching,
  • I will apply to at least one job a day,
  • I will start and grow my investments to $10,000, and
  • I will read every book on my bookshelf.

I believe that these resolutions address most aspects of my life right now. In completing these - or at least attempting - I will be able to make the most of 2025.
