Who's looking for open source contributors? (week 64)

Tell us about your project

Promote your project by providing a link to the repo. Everyone who posted in previous weeks is welcome back this week, as always πŸ˜„

Open Source should be a welcoming space for contributors. The README is the front door of your project. If you'd like to check out an example of a README, here's our OpenSauced/insights README.

If you submit please have the following in your repo to make it welcoming and helpful for contributors:

  1. README.md
  2. CONTRIBUTING.md

Feel free to drop your issues and repos in the OpenSauced Discord #πŸ‘€-looking-for-contributors channel at any time!

If you're new to open source, and you're not sure where to start, check out our Intro to Open Source course. If you're interested in becoming a maintainer (so you can participate in posts like this!) check out our growing New Maintainer Series or our Maintainer Toolkit Series.

Just a note to say we've restarted this post from something Ben was doing for a while :star-struck:

Happy contributing!

If you want to start contributing Open Source on a small project and in a friendly enviroment I would suggest you this project I started a couple of months ago:
It's called make-js-component and it's an npx command which allows you to create a boilerplate component for almost any javascript framework!
We're continuosly looking for ways to improve it, at the moment we've some diverse issues opened, but we're open to features proposals and issue rising!
Come have a look at this link, it's always wonderful having new contributors!

Want to contribute to open source and make democracy work a little better?

Civil Pursuit is a web app for productive large scale deliberation. Imagine millions of people deliberating on questions like "What's are the top priorities for Congress in 2024" and productively coming to conclusions they agree on.

We have a prototype

Now we are working on a new user interface, adding a step for grouping similar comments, and adding the tournament rounds feature for scaling to millions.

This is Node/Mongo/React and the UI design is in Figma.

EnCiv.org is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit forging productive national discourse.

The Ockam project adds good first issues every week. We love helping new contributors and our github repo is approaching 300 contributors who've contributed to our docs and code (Rust, Elixir, Swift, shell scripts, nix, github actions etc.)

Your first contribution can even be feedback on our docs, command line, or our new macOS app. After you share your feedback you can send your first pull request to add yourself to our contributors list. A thing I've heard from a lot of first time contributors is that contributing to Ockam gave them a way to experience everything that goes into participating in a large, production quality, multi-language, monorepo.

So come on over - give the project a star, read our contributors guide, join us on discord, and build a powerful developer tool with us to make software more secure-by-design github.com/build-trust/ockam
