Check out the new Octane Super Rentals Tutorial πŸš€, the 1st EmberJS Meetup in Nizhny πŸ₯³, and an Ember Times exclusive "I contribute to Ember" interview πŸ“ with Michelle Santarsiero!

Octane Super Rentals Tutorial πŸš€

Godfrey Chan @chancancode and Vaidehi Joshi @vaidehijoshi did some great work writing new tutorial content for Octane. You can now preview the revamped Super Rentals tutorial in the Octane guides.

What’s more amazing about this Super Rentals tutorial is that it is automatically generated. It runs the commands from markdown files and edits the files the same way that the reader would. It even captures the output and screenshots for the published tutorial. This way, if any steps stopped working due to a change in Ember itself, we would know right away from a CI failure.

If you are looking to contribute, or if you have any feedback on the content, check out the super-rentals-tutorial repo on GitHub!

The Inaugural EmberJS Nizhny Novgorod Meetup πŸ₯³

Recently, the Ember community of НиТний Новгород ("Nizhny Novgorod") came together for the first event of Nizhny's EmberJS meetup group. The event was a huge success and featured insightful talks around JavaScript, Ember, testing best practices and much more. Event organiser Natasha Fel aka @NataliFel on Twitter shared highlights from the meetup, including these amazing Tomster cookies!

Looking forward to see Ember events happen in your area, but don't know yet how to make this happen? Check out the EmberJS meetup map and find out if there's already a group in your town.

Curious to start your own meetup group? Fantastic news β€” appreciate you stepping up! Running a solid meetup isn't all that complicated, but it can be intimidating: the Ember community would love to help you ease into it. Here are some tips for first-time organisers and you can find any assets for your event over here.

For any further questions, be sure to join the Ember Discord chat and ask for the correct role to be added to the meetup organisers channel in #discord-server-admin.

"I contribute to Ember" with Michelle Santarsiero πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

In our twelfth edition of our contributor interview series, community member Michelle Santarsiero @lonelyghost, talks about her work on Ember Observer, her journey into open source, and her tips for making incremental progress when doing open source on the side. Thank you for your contributions to the Ember community, Michelle!

You can read the full interview on the Ember Discuss Forum.

The idea behind these interviews is to provide community members with more information and insight into open source contributions, learning resources and community events. Contributors to the community gain a platform to share their thoughts on their own experiences and learnings as they were contributing to Ember. Our hope is that it gives first-time and advancing contributors a better sense of the fact that everyone starts out small, and that anyone can have a big impact on the community.
